MIN-GRO fellows are similar to any other the Marie Curie trainee in that the ambition of the research is to be innovative, resulting in publications in scientific journals. These will be priority goals for the fellows together with acquiring the skills necessary for future careers. Scientific results are to be disseminated in the following ways:

  • publications in international and local journals, including popular scientific magazines, newsletters, newspapers, webpages, and other media
  • presentations at international meetings, including the annual meetings of the European Union of Geosciences and the Goldschmidt meeting of the Geochemical Society
  • transfer of knowledge (TOK) outreach forums
  • teaching of undergraduate and graduate students

Within the limits of technology transfer and privacy of information agreements, relevant outcomes of the training and research activities will be communicated to industry groups, consulting companies, materials manufacturers, oil companies, the scientific research community, and government agencies involved in related issues, such as waste storage/management and ground/surface water quality. The European Commission will be informed of findings through the standard reporting system.

Results having important applications in the improvement of surveillance and/or protection of environmentally sensitive systems will be communicated to authorities and scientists in charge for European and national programs. This communication will be facilitated by this website and the MIN-GRO TOK outreach forums. Scientists from academia and industry will be invited to participate in the forums, including in the formal presentations as well as the roundtable discussions. These full-day forums will be held at the end of the semi-annual MIN-GRO network meetings in years two through four of the project. Six sites will be chosen to optimise interaction with the local communities. Oviedo has been selected as one site because of its classification as a less privileged area. Another forum will be held in Eastern Europe.
